1 Google Feature That Will Grow Your Service Business Guaranteed! {Google Guarantee}

By the time you’re done reading this blog, you’ll understand what I did with the title!

Google has a tremendous number of tools to help small to medium service businesses grow their client list and bottom line.  A lot of these tools are free.

I have always told business owners that the behemoth known as Google does give smaller businesses an even playing ground as they try to share the market with their larger counterparts.

In one case study I conducted I proved that smaller, local businesses can compete with larger sites and businesses for high-value keywords like plumber.

Google offers tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google My Business, Keyword Research, Google Reviews, and YouTube all for free.

But there’s a lesser-known tool that Google began rolling out not too long ago.  This tool delivers highly qualified leads ready to purchase, guaranteed.

Google Guarantee for the Win

Google launched Google Guarantee to the public in early 2018.  It’s part of the Google Local Ads platform. Originally it launched for locksmiths and plumbers in Canada.  Today Google Guarantee is available for many service type businesses including HVAC, electricians, and roofers.

To use Google Guarantee service businesses must prove they are licensed and insured.  This is done through a Google screening process.

Once approved your business receives leads and pays for the leads that contact you.  The closing rate on leads that call through Google Guarantee is much higher than most other lead generation methods.

In other words, instead of paying for dozens or even hundreds of leads, that are shared with other (competing) service providers, you get calls directly to your business from the client looking for the service.

It’s up to you to answer the phone and close the deal!

Google will guarantee the work of the home service provider up to $2000.

Many service businesses report seeing an 1800% increase in qualified leads while using Google Guarantee.

The Proof is in the Pudding

Our very own Yony Argueta uses Google Guarantee for his roofing business Yargueta Construction.  Yony reports a closing rate of nearly 80% for the calls he receives from Google Guarantee.

Yargueta Construction averages 4 calls per week from Google Guarantee.  They pay an average of $35 per call/lead.  Closing at least 50% of those calls more than covers the cost of the Google Local Ads.  The ROI for Yargueta Construction utilizing Google Local Ads – Google Guarantee is more than 2000%.

Besides the benefit of the massive ROI potential, there is another great benefit to Google Guarantee.  The ads appear at the very top of the Google Search Results Page.  They’re above the regular Google Ads, Map, and Organic Search Results.

Google Guarantee ads are also local.  If you search for HVAC in Hartford, CT you’re not going to get service providers for the Boston area in the Google Local Ads.

When I search for “roofer” in Newington, CT Yargueta’s Google Guarantee ad comes up.  If I use the same search in New Haven, CT it does not.  This again means you’re only paying for relevant calls.

This becomes increasingly important as the Google Search Results Page evolves to address Voice Search.

Google rolled out Google Guarantee in 2018 in Canada.  They started with locksmiths and plumbers.  They have since expanded to other service providers and into the United States.

As the success of the program continues you can expect it to continue to expand to other service providers.  You can also expect an increase in cost per lead but if businesses are experiencing an ROI of 200 times their investment it’s worth the trouble.

As I stated earlier you do have to show proof of license and insurance.  Some service businesses are not required to have a license so that might prove to be challenging to Google as part of the Google Guarantee program is a guarantee from Google of up to $2000.

A Few Things to Look Out For

It’s likely that as Google continues to roll out Google Guarantee to more service businesses the cost of a lead will go up.  In most cases, it’s still worth it to use the service.

Google only charges for leads that you speak with.  A client leaving a voicemail counts as a lead you spoke with.  Don’t lose out on the sale.  Set the ads to run when someone can answer the phone.

We recommend that businesses get as much visibility as possible on the first page of Google.  If you can run a Google Local Ad, a regular Google Ad, show up on the first page for Google Maps and in the Organic results, your click-through will increase dramatically.  The next blog post will be the anatomy of the Google SERP (Search Engine Results Page) as it has changed in the last year and will continue to evolve in the mobile and voice-first world.

To sign up for Google Guarantee you do have to pass a background check, insurance check, license check and you may be required to go through advanced verification if your business is one that frequently sees fraudulent activity.
